Novel Group November 14th
We had a great group for our book discussion on I Hunt Killer by Barry Lyga. We have lots of questions for the author. Mixed feelings about the book but isn't that what a good book group is, the ability to discuss your feelings and opinions among those who have also read it. This group was great and respected each others comments.

The Program
The Program was an amazing book. It was actually the best book I've ever read before.
This book is a love story and it leaves you with confusion throughout it.
It's about a epidemic where teenagers are commonly committing suicides and are extremely depressed. Due to their depression and suicides, to stop it a school just for these teens was built where they were required to attend. They were constantly watched and if they showed any signs of depression, they were taken by handlers to a facility for "help." What they really did was erase your past that caused the depression. The girl in the book was taken to this facility when her boyfriend and friend were put in it. When she got there, she fought hard to try and keep her memories. She met a friend while there who helped her get out. He was in love with her.

Queen of Water
María Virginia is just a little girl living with her simple,
indigenous family in Ecuador when her life changes forever. She is taken to another
town to work as a servant for another well-to-do family. At eight years old she
must do all of the housework, care for two young children, and is not allowed
to go to school. She is often mistreated. It doesn't take long for her to
realize that she is enslaved. Will she ever see her family again? How can she
break free from her bondage? As she grows into a remarkable young woman, María
Virginia rises above her circumstances in this true story filled with
heart-wrenching experiences and heart-warming inspiration.
